  • Loomis, Dwight was born on July 27, 1821 in Columbia, Connecticut, United States. Son of Elam and Mary (Pinneo) Loomis.

  • Education

    • Graduated from Yale Law School, 1847, Doctor of Laws. Admitted to bar, 1847, settling at Rockville, Connecticut. Member Congress, 1859-1863.

      Judge superior court, Connecticut, 1864-1875. Judge Supreme Court, Connecticut, 1875-1891, retiring upon reaching constitutional limit of age. Appointed by the legislature of Connecticut, 1891, a State referee for trial of causes referred to him, which office he still holds.

      In 1895 he was appointed presiding judge State Board of Arbitration, but subsequently resigned the office. Was, 1892-1894, professor in law department, Yale.
