    • Admitted to the bar, 1854. Major N.G.S.N.Y.; was chairman Board of Education. Delegate to International Maritime Conference, Washington, 1889.

      President Republican general committee, 1886-1887. Member assembly, 1866-1870. President justice appellate div.

      Supreme Court, New York, 1896-1904. Delegate diplomatic conference at Brussels to formulate treaty on Maritime Law. Also counsel for Justice Warren B. Hooker in proceedings for impeachment or removal.
