Dresser, Solomon Robert was born on February 1, 1842 in Litchfield, Michigan, United States. Son of Parker and Lydia (Cronkhite) Dresser.
He attended the common schools and Hillsdale College.
He engaged in agricultural pursuits until 1865. He became an inventor of oil and gas well equipment, and moved to Pennsylvania in 1872 to work in the production of oil and gas. Dresser was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-eighth and Fifty-ninth Congresses.
He was not a candidate for renomination in 1906.
Member 58th and 59th Congresses (1903-1907), 21st Pennsylvania District.
Married Vesta East. Stimson, 1863 (died 1883). Married second, Caroline Kirsch, December 21, 1885.
