      Member Georgia House of Representatives, 1892-1901, State Senate, 4 years (president 1905-1906). Delegate at large Democratic National Convention, Denver, 1908. Appointed, March 2, 1914, by Governor John M. Slaton, to fill vacancy in the United States Senate caused by death of Honorary Augustus O. Bacon.
