    • In practice, Delaware Company, Iowa, 1874-1881, Evanston, Wyoming, since 1881. Prosecuting attorney, Uinta Company, Wyoming, 1882-1886. Appointed Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Wyoming, Ty., 1889, but declined.

      Member 51st and 52d Congresses (1889-1893). United States senator, 1895-1899, to fill vacancy caused by failure of legislature to elect. Reëlected for terms, 1899-1905, 1905-1911, 1911-1917.

      Chairman Committee on Judiciary and member Committee on Finance, Public Lands, Railroads, etc. Appointed member International Joint Commission, July 1919, retired, May 1929. Home: Evanston, Wyo.
