  • Johnson, Tom Loftin was born on July 18, 1854 in Georgetown, Kentucky, United States. Son of Albert L. and Helen (Loftin) Johnson.

    • Went to Indiana in boyhood. Educated there; clerk in street railway office, Louisville, Kentucky, 1869-1875. Invented several street railway devices.

      Bought a street railway in Indianapolis. Later acquired large street railway interests in Cleveland, Detroit and Brooklyn. Also iron manufacturer in Cleveland.

      Retired from business.
