    • Went to California, 1866. Educational public schools, San Francisco.

    Career

    • After leaving school entered theatrical profession, playing with Edwin Booth, Joseph Jefferson, Tomasso Salvini, Clara Morris, etc. Returned to San Francisco, 1890, and studied law. Elected California Legislature, 1892.

      Secretary finance committee, California Midwinter International Exhibition. Admitted to bar, 1894. Member 56th and 57th Congresses (1899-1903) and 59th to 67th Congresses (1905-1923), 4th California District.
