At present time Bonkougou is the only African ambassador in Canada. She is one of the most prominent women of the continent in the sphere of women’s rights and children, labour law, social maintenance and also state administration.
Background
Juliette Bonkoungou was born in Yameogo in Koudougou, Burkina Faso on 14 May 1954 . Her father, Mr. Joseph Yameogo served as a policeman in the town of Bobo Dioulasso for two years and then returned to his hometown, Koudougou, where he also worked as a police officer. Her mother was Madeleine Yameogo. She met her husband Pascal Bonkoungou in 1981 in France while both were studying there. Her husband is a doctor specializing in diseases of the stomach and abdomen. They have a daughter and two sons.
Education
After earning a master's degree in private law and a DEA * 1, she graduated with honors from the International School of Magistrates of Paris, followed by a third cycle diploma of business school and the Business Administration from Bordeaux in France. After her taking master’s degree she in private law and DEA * 1, she graduated from the International School of Paris, then folowed by a third cycle diploma Business School and Business Administration from Bordeaux in France

Madame Juliette Bonkoungou was an influential member of the first wave of women lawyers in Burkina Faso and throughout the African sub- region. She became one of the founding members of the Assosiation of Women Lawyers of Burkina Faso.
