Blaise Compaoré was born on February 3rd 1951 in Ouagadougou (formerly Upper Volta, now Burkina Faso). He is a former soldier and a statesman in Burkina Faso.He is the eldest of seven children of Bila Compaoré Maurice and Therese Bougouma Tiga. Engaged in the French Army in 1934, the father will returned to the country in 1947, where he held the position of Republican Guard. With his brothers and sisters, Blaise Compaoré spent a happy childhood among Ziniaré and Boromo. He still remembers hunting parties which he was doing with his father, and the great affection with which the mother surrounded her children
