In 1929, a catastrophic flood nearly obliterates Elba, Alabama, but Chief of Police Bret Lawson quickly discovers that the flooding might be the least of his worries. The mayor is smuggling alcohol on the side, a mob has become entangled in the scene - and to make matters worse - an escaped convict charged with rape and murder, is seeking revenge against Bret. Time is running out for Elba, Alabama, and Bret's abilities are put to the test, but among the crooks and the mud, he might just find something worthwhile: love.

(The story of an ordinary man, who had a rather extraordin...)
The story of an ordinary man, who had a rather extraordinary life. Sid pulls no punches, he tells it like it happened - the good and the bad. As they say, "He let's it all hang out!" In addition to the story of his unusual adult life, the story also includes interesting anecdotes of his grandparents, all of whom immigrated to the United States, and adapted to a new land; and of one of their sons - Sid's father - who dragged his family all over the country, as he tried to make his fortune. He was an avid photographer, and the book is profusely illustrated with over 300 photographs.
