Achievements include development of general procedure for construction of differential geometry for a wide class of geometric structures on manifolds. The solution of equivalence problem for nonholonomic vector distribution of rank 2 and 3 on manifolds of any dimension, extending classical work of Elie Cartan on 5-dimensional manifolds. The geometric structures under consideration appear naturally in geometrical study of systems of partial differential equations, control theory, robotics, models of visual perception and others.
