Kerr-Jarrett studied at the Elms School from 1969 to 1973. In 1973, he entered Cheltenham College. Then in 1979, Mark began studying at Georgia Institute of Technology, where he studied for two years. In 1984, he was given an associate degree at Middle Georgia College. In 1987, Mark received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
Kerr-Jarrett began his career as a mechanical engineer at National Transportation Safety Board in 1987. Since 1988 he has been a managing director at Barnett Limited. In 2005, Mark became a member of the board of directors at Guardian Asset Management Jamaica Ltd., where he worked until 2010.
In 2009, he was appointed an advisory board member at National Works Agency and held the position until 2012. The same years Kerr-Jarrett was a member of the board at Housing Agency of Jamaica. In addition, since 2009 he has been a member of the board of directors and a member of Audit Committee at Cable & Wireless Jamaica Limited. Since 2013 he has been an advisory board member at Urban Development Corporation. Since 2015 Mark held a position of Chairman of the board at Cable & Wireless Jamaica Limited.
Kerr-Jarrett was a chairman of St. James Parish Development Committee from 2000 to 2012. Also he was President of Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce & Industry from 2000 to 2003. Since 2012 Mark has been a treasurer and director at Business Processing and Industry Association of Jamaica.
On December 29, 1990 Mark Kerr-Jarrett married Paula Kay Bovell. They have three children.
