Background
Oscar Tusquets Blanca was born in Barcelona in 1941. Although in his teens he wanted to become a painter his parents brought him over and Oscar ended up going to Architecture School from where he graduated in 1965. One year before finishing his studies Tusquets together with his fellow students Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici and Lluís Clotet founded Studio PER. Studio PER achieved international recognition for its quirky architectural projects, including"Fullá", a house in Barcelona (1967-70). In 1974 Oscar Tusquets Blanca designed a wing for the Salvador Dalí Museum in Figueras (Dalí was one of his friends). In 1972 the members of Studio PER founded BD Barcelona Designs, a furniture-making firm. BD produced much of the furniture and other designer objects its founders created as well work by other contemporary designers. Many of Oscar Tusquets Blanca's designs are closely connected with Catalan cultural identity and rich design legacy of Barcelona.
