He worked for a number of years as draftsman, employed in successive periods with the firms of Young & Cable, R. C. Gildersleeve, Augustus H. Allen, and William B. Tuthill. Early in the 1900’s Mr. Van Antwerp opened an office in Montclair, N. J., for independent practice. He carried on work in the city for twenty five years or more, with the following named buildings among his best known works: Wachtung Avenue Congregational Church in Montclair, the Monondock Inn, Caldwell, N. J., Club House at Empire City, N. J., and the Yacht Club in Bayside, Long Island, N. Y.
