Hannah Shaviv was born on January 16, 1949, in Israel.
Hannah Shaviv earned a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art from Haifa University, Israel (1973). She received a diploma in creative photography from the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication) in 1976.
Since 1980 the director of Photo Workshop 39 in Jerusalem, Israel, Hannah Shaviv was an instructor at Bezalel Academy of Art, Jerusalem, and an assistant at Hank Londoner's Studio in New York City in 1979. Hannah Shaviv freelanced as a photographer in London from 1976 to 1978.
Hannah Shaviv says that her work's "mood and imagery shift from isolated and distorted figures within collapsing, destructing space to softly lit full forms within friendly rooms."
