Terry Wild earned a Bachelor of Arts in English (1968) from Lycoming College, Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Still Photography (1971) from Art Center College of Design, Los Angeles. That same year, Terry Wild was included in a show at the Pasadena Art Museum called "The Crowded Vacancy: Three Los Angeles Photographers," along with Lewis Baltz and Anthony Hernandez.
Terry Wild has operated his own photography studio since 1971 and has taught photography part-time since 1972 at Lycoming College. Since 1973 he has also been chairperson of the Photography Department at the Pennsylvania Governors' School for the Arts, Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
