Ting-an Li took primary school education in Chung-shan and Hongkong in 1905-1913, than he studied in Canton Christian College in Canton, China in 1914-1920. He completed the premedical course in the Canton Christian College with honors in 1920.
Also Dr. Li studied in Peking Union Medical College in Peking, China in 1920-1926 and graduated from the Peking Union Medical College with honor and Doctor of Medicine degree in 1926.
From 1927 to 1929 he studied in Harvard University in U.S.A.
Dr. Li Ting-an was Divisional Chief, Bureau of Public Health, City Government of Greater Shanghai in 1929. He associated in Public Health, Peking Union Medical College in 1930, also he was promoted to be assistant professor in 1931. Mr. Ting-an was a member of Technical Committee of the National Epidemic Prevention Bureau in 1931.
He was a Chairman of Council on Public Health, Chinese Medical Association in 1931-1933, Commissioner, Bureau of Public Health, City Government of Greater Shanghai, since 1932 and the member of Committee on health education, Ministry of Education in 1933.
