Fan Robert graduated with Bachelor of Science degree from St. John's University in 1917. He entered University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A., School of Architecture in 1919.
Fan Robert worked at John T. Windrim in 1920, Ch. F. Durang in 1922, Day & Klauder also in 1922. He served as an architect in Philadelphia, U.S.A. and from 1922 to 1927 - architect for Lam Glines & Company, Shanghai.
Mr. Fan started own office to practice architecture since 1927. Among his recent works should be mentioned the following: The Ministry of Railways, the Oversea Chinese Hostel and the Officers' Moral Endeavor Association, Nanjing (Nanking), the Nanjing (Nanking) Theatre, the Paradise Theatre and the new Eastern Theatre, the new Chinese Y.M.C.A. Shanghai, buildings for the Ministry of Public Health at Nanjing (Nanking), many College buildings, banks, office buildings, apartments and residences in Shanghai.
Fan Robert was the founder and First President of the Society of Chinese Architects Public Service, advisory member of the Committee of the Nanjing (Nanking) City Planning Bureau of 1929. Also, he was a member of Advisory Committee to the Zhongshan (Chungshan) National Memorial Park, Nanjing (Nanking), 1928. Mr. Fan held the post of a technical expert to the Ministry of Railways, Nanjing (Nanking) in 1932. He was an honorary adviser to the National Good Roads Association of China.
