He graduated from the Peking Academy in 1922, and Nankai University in Tientsin in 1926.
Tzechin Lu passed the Diplomatic and Consular Service examinations held by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1928. He served as Chancellor in the Chinese Consulate at Vancouver, B.C., in 1929. Then he was promoted deputy Consul at Penang in 1930. He was also a deputy Consul at Singapore in 1932, Vice Consul at Penang in 1933. After that he was appointed the first Chinese Consul at Kuala Lumpur in Federated Malay States in 1933.
