Mr. Fu received his preliminary education at Kaifeng Middle School, Kaifeng, Henan (Honan) from 1902 to 1905. He studied at Sugamo Kobun School and Toyo University, Tokyo, Japan in 1905-1912. Fu Tung pursued his advanced education in England where he attended the University of Birmingham and University of Oxford between 1913 and 1919.
Since his return, Fu Tung successively served as professor of philosophy at the Government Peking University, the Normal University and the Peking University, Beijing (Peking), President of Northwest University, Sianfu, Shaanxi (Shensi). Later, he was the President of the University of Anhui (Anhwei), Anqing (Anking). Mr. Fu was an editor of "Philosophia" Beijing (Peking), the first philosophical journal in China. He was known as a writer of articles and treatises on topics of philosophy and kindred subjects. Some of his essays were included in Hasting's Encyclopedia of Religion and Ethics.
