He taught Chinese in the Physical Culture College of Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Mr. Hu was a physical director of the Ta Hsia University at Shanghai. Hu Kung-hsiang served as a a regimental commander under Lu Yung-hsiang (Military Governor of Zhejiang) during the Jiangsu-Zhejiang War in 1924. He joined the revolutionary movement in Canton and served as chief secretary to the General Military Headquarters of the Canton Government commissioner of finance for Jiangxi from 1926.
Hu Kung-hsiang was an acting superintendent of military supplies of the Nationalist Army Headquarters. Since 1927 he was appointed chief inspector of the Customs House in Shanghai.
