She graduated from Women's Union College of North China at Peiping, amalgamated with Yenching University.
Shu-ching Ting helped organize the Peking Y.W.C.A. (Young Women's Christian Association). In 1916 she joined the staff of the same, later became general secretary. In 1919 Miss Ting visited the U.S.A. aiding in a Y.W.C.A.educational campaign. In 1924 she attended World's Conference Y.W.C.A. Washington D.C., and spent a year in study abroad. In 1925 she attended World's Quinquennial Convention of International Council of Women, investigated Women's' organizations and movements in Europe, attended Fifty Years' Jubilee of the Y.W.C.A. of India.
In 1926 Shu-ching Ting became General Secretary National Committee Y.W.C.A. of China. In 1931 she visited abroad on invitation of the Y.W.C.A. of U.S.A., attended Executive Committee meeting World's Council of the Y.W.C.A. Geneva, participated in numerous social movements, served on board of directors Yenching University, Cheloo University, Ginling College, McTyeire School, Bridgman Academy, National Child Welfare Association, National Council of Women
(China).
