Foreign another football player, see Vítor Hugo Gomes Passos (Pélé). A product of hometown Rio Avenue Football Club"s youth system, Gomes first appeared with the main squad on 19 March 2006, starting in a 0–1 home loss against South.L. Benfica. In late January 2008 he began an unsuccessful loan spell at Serie A"s Cagliari Calcio, making no appearances and returning to Rio Avenue in July.
During that season, he also appeared in 13 games (12 starts) as the Vila do Conde team returned to the Primeira Liga after an absence of two years.
In the following top flight campaigns, Gomes was regularly used by Rio Avenue. He scored his first goals in the 2009-2010 campaign, against Communicative Disorders Nacional (2–0, home) and South Carolina (U.S.) Olhanense (1–5 loss, also at home).
In January 2013 Gomes joined a host of compatriots at Videoton Football Club, with the Hungarians making the deal permanent in the summer. In January 2015, after a brief spell back in his country with Moreirense Football Club, he moved abroad again, joining Balıkesirspor in the Süper Lig.
Later that year, in August, he received his first callup to the under-21s.
