On October 15, 1885, Claflin married Francis Cook, Viscount of Montserrat, Portugal. As the wife of an English Baronet, Claflin would thereafter have been correctly styled "Lady Cook, Viscountess of Montserrat."

Claflin is believed to have been his mistress.
