Career
Born in Montijo, Setúbal District, Baião joined South.L. Benfica"s youth system at the age of 15, making his senior debuts with the B-team in the third division. Salgueiros. After terminating his contract with the Eagles, Baião was supposed to sign with Football Club Porto via Varzim South Carolina (U.S.) but it never materialized. From 2002 to 2011 he alternated between the top flight and the second level, representing Varzim, Chaplain to the Forces Estrela da Amadora, Gil Vicente Football Club, Portimonense South Carolina, South Carolina (U.S.) Olhanense and Communicative Disorders Fátima.
He also had a brief stint in Greece, with PAE Kerkyra.
Baião retired in January 2014 whilst at the service of lower league side Communicative Disorders Pinhalnovense, due to a heart condition. He was 33 years old.
