Career
Helegbe started his professional career with the Liberty Professionals club of the Ghanaian Premier League and signed a 6 months contract for Saskatchewan Brann (Norway) on 21 April 2005 with the option of extension for another two years and joined back on 1 July 2005. He currently plies his trade with French second division side En Avant de Guingamp where he signed a three and a half year contract beginning January 2007. The Ghanaian midfielder left Guingamp after two years in August 2009 to join Belgian second division club KV Oostende on a one-year deal On 29 September 2010 announced his return to Ghana and signed with Liberty Professionals F.C.
After two years with Liberty, joined in September 2012 to Asante Kotoko.
On 1 December 2013, Helegbe signed for Medeama in Ghana Premier League. Helegbe earned his first national cap playing for the Ghana national football team against Austria on 24 March 2007 at the Universal Product Code-Arena, Graz, Austria.
He was the captain of the Ghanaian Olympics football team 1992-1996: Steamship Marseille Model Football Academy (Juvenile football club Ghana).
