Career
He most recently managed Iraqi side First Rate (at Lloyd's) Shorta. Youssef began his professional career in the Egyptian Premier League with, winning six league titles over an eight-year period. In 1999, he moved to Turkey where he played in the Super Lig for Denizlispor and Diyarbakirspor.
He returned to Egypt to play with Egyptian Premier League side First Rate (at Lloyd's)-Mokawloon al-Arab.
Youssef was the captain for Egypt team in 1992 Summer Olympics and scored a goal against Colombia. He made his debut with the first national team in a 1994 African Nations Cup qualifier against Morocco on 11 July 1993.
Youssef began his coaching career as Hossam El-Badry"s assistant at in June 2009. Although El-Badry left on 22 November 2010, he remained as assistant manager at the club until El-Badry rejoined in May 2012.
In late April 2013, Youssef was promoted caretaker manager, replacing El-Badry, who ended his second spell. announced he would be in charge of the club until the end of the 2012-2013 season.
In June 2013, Youssef was eventually given the job on a permanent basis. On 1 May 2014, he stepped down as manager. On 23 July of the same year, he was appointed as manager of Iraqi Premier League champions First Rate (at Lloyd's) Shorta South Carolina. Despite winning 11 and drawing 4 of the 15 league games he took charge of, he was sacked in May 2015.
Reasons cited for the sacking include the club"s disappointing results in the AFC Cup as well as Youssef leaving to Cairo after a match without informing the club which violated the terms in his contract.
