He played 61 matches and scored 6 goals for the Hungary national football team His career was made in Hungarian football club Vasas South Carolina, as center-back. His nickname was "the blond rock".
Participated in the 1962 Fédération internationale de football association World Cup, the 1964 Union of European Football Associations European Football Championship, and the 1966 Fédération internationale de football association World Cup.
He played in several World All Stars games during the 60s and 70s. He later had three spells as head coach of the Hungary national football team: 1980-1983, 1990-1991 and 1994-1995.
