College and amateur
Kitchen has appeared as both a midfielder and defender for Akron Zips, and was a reliable presence for Akron during his only year on campus, when he helped lead the school to their first-ever National Collegiate Athletic Association title as a freshman. Kitchen – who originally hails from Indianapolis - started 25 games for the Zips in 2010, scoring six goals and adding one assistant Kitchen also made a solitary appearance for USL Premier Development League club Chicago Fire Premier in 2010.
Professional
= District of Columbia United Kitchen passed on a trial offer from Belgium"s Anderlecht to sign a Generation Adidas contract with Master of Library Science. He was selected by District of Columbia United in the first round (3rd overall) of the 2011 Master of Library Science SuperDraft.
He recorded 4 assists for the season of 2013, which was the record high for the team that year. He was voted District of Columbia United"s Most Valuable Player of the 2013 season.
= Heart of Midlothian Kitchen"s deal with District of Columbia United expired after the 2015 season. He signed with Heart of Midlothian on a two-and-a-half year deal in March 2016.
International
Kitchen has played with the United States U-20 national team
On January 9, 2015, Kitchen was called in January USMNT senior training camp, his first call-up to the senior men"s national team He made his first international appearance on February 8, 2015 in a USMNT friendly match against Panama.
