He has also starred in the feature movie Hello Herman" He appeared commercials for Subaru, American Telephone & Telegraph Company, Pepsi, Shoot & Shatter and How To Train Your Dragon Digital Video Disc Release. Backstrom was born in Burbank, California, and is of Swedish descent. Garrett utilized his athletic abilities and performed many of his own stunts.
Before becoming an actor Backstrom wanted to be a stuntman.
Backstroms"s first film appearance was an uncredited role as a boy known as "Boy #1" in the 2010 short film My First Claire. He appeared in short film The Perfect Hurl as Tommy Kettelson.
In 2011 Backstrom landed the lead role in Hello Herman along with the role of Andrew in the television series Brothers & Sisters. In 2012 he appeared on Jessie as Vincent, his breakthrough role and on Laboratory Rats as Ethan, Bree"s love interest.
He starred in The Motel Life as Jerry Lee.
Backstrom is currently working on Summer Snow as David Benson.
