Bill Hamid made history on September 2, 2009, when he became the first District of Columbia United Academy player to sign with the first team Prior to signing with District of Columbia United, he was linked with a move to Celtic, until work permit issues derailed the move.
He made his professional debut on May 5, 2010 in a game against the Kansas City Wizards.

His International debut came in January of 2012 when United States of America beat Venezuela 1-0 in Arizona, marking his first full team debut with a shutout. Hamid"s 2nd international match came against Republic of Ireland in Dublin, a loss in November 2014.
Since 2011 he has been a regular international call up for Juergen Klinnsman & the United States team, often backing up Everton keeper, Tim Howard & Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan, but was not one of the final choices for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Hamid spent time in training with the U-18 and U-20 United States national teams.
On August 4, 2011, Hamid was called into camp for the senior United States men"s national soccer team ahead of the match against Mexico.
He was then named to the 22-man roster that tied Mexico 1-1 on August 10, 2011. Hamid made his senior international debut on January 21, 2012 against Venezuela.
