Career
Newcombe founded in San Francisco, California, in 1990. The Committee to Keep Evil Newcombe founded his own record label which has released albums by (Bravery, Repetition and Noise and the re-release of Spacegirl and Other Favourites), The Lovetones" (Be What You Want), and Dead Meadow"s (Got Live if You Want lieutenant). Despite the fact the Brian Jonestown Massacre were known for a "retro" sound, Anton uses a mix of modern and old gear, digital and analogue.
He"s been using Pro-Tools for many years now, as well as a vintage Roland Revue Economique-201 Space Echo.
He"s got a predilection for vintage Ribbon mics and uses a 1937 Radio Corporation of America microphone on most recordings, as well as vintage Neumann and Cole models. Other equipment includes a 16-channels Chandler Electric and Music Industries mixer, some Vintage King gear, URI and Anthony DeMaria Labs compressors.
Live, his main guitar is a vintage Vox Cheetah semi-acoustic with built-in wah, fuzz and repeater effects. Some of his fx pedals include Boss Revue Economique-20 Space Echo, Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Memory Manitoba, Z-Vex Mastroton fuzz, Z-Vex Super Duper and Electro-Harmonix Little Big Muff.
His main choice for amps is the Fender Twin Reverb.
