Arthur Sze was a graduate of University of California, Berkeley, earning Bachelor of Arts in 1972.
Between 1984 and 1989 he served as an instructor in English at Institute of American Indian Arts, professor and director ot creative writing program from 1989 to 1990, 1991-1993, and again starting from 1994. In 1985-1988 Mr. Sze became a member of board of directors of Tooth of Time Books. He was a resident at Naropa Institute in 1989 and 1995, Brown University since 1991, and Bard College from 1991.
In 1983 Arthur Sze was appointed poetry coordinator at Tone Roads West: Poetry and New Music Festival. He was a participant in public readings, workshops, and writers’ conferences as well as visiting poet at schools in Alaska and New Mexico. Mr. Sze was a judge of writing contests. Arthur Sze was a contributor of dozens of poems, essays, and translations to magazines and newspapers, including Conjunctions, River Styx, Asian Pacific American Journal, American Poetry Review, Hanging Loose, and Manoa.
