Background

Good, Adolphus Clemens was born on December 19, 1856 in West Mahoning, Pennsylvania, United States. Son of Abram and Hannah (Irwin) Good.

Education

Graduate Washington and Jefferson College, 1879, Western Theological Seminary, 1882.

Career

Ordained to ministry Presbyn Church, 1882. Active in missionary work, Baraka, French Congo, Africa, 1882-1885, Kangwe, French Congo, 1885-1892. Worked in Bulu country in German Territory, 1892-1894 (penetrated further inland than any other white man up to that time).

Prepared a Bulu primer.

Translated Gospels into Bulu. Added more to knowledge of insect forms of Africa than any other single collector.
