    Major achievements

    • Achievements include climbing mountains in 1998 after a second heart surgery to repair a life threatening condition called Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. Serving as team captain of the first American Women's Everest Expedition in 2002. Climbed highest peaks on six continents-Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Elbrus, Carstensz Pyramid, McKinley and Vinson, also Rainier, Muir, Whitney and Shasta, Cotopaxi (Ecuador), Ixta and Orizaba (Mexico).

      Skied more than 100 miles to reach the top of the world-the North Pole. Created Climb High Foundation for improving the lives of jobless women in third-world countries by training them to be trekking guides or porters for the local mountains. Involvment in Western Uganda was groundbreaking because it was the first time the local women had climbed mountains because it was forbidden due to cultural beliefs (subordinate status of women).

      Raised funds to build two schools in Nepal. Helped to fund the construction of a school for Acuired Immune Deficiency Syndrome orphans in Uganda.
