A graduate in science, Singh pursued Aeronautical Engineering in the UK, being subsequently selected to the Indian Army by British Officers Services Selected Board, UK
After graduating in Science from Meerut College, he went to UK to study Aeronautical Engineering. While pursuing engineering in UK, K.P. Singh was selected to the prestigious Indian Army, by British Officers Services Selection Board, UK. He joined the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun and was later on commissioned into The Deccan Horse-a renowned cavalry regiment of The Indian Army.
in 1960 to join DLF, which had been founded in 1946 by his father-in-law, entrepreneur Chaudhary Raghvendra Singh. His father-in-law initially gave him assignments in the manufacturing field. When American Universal Company merged with DLF Universal Limited, K.P. Singh became the Managing Director of the new company.As the director of the new merger company, in 1979, he set out on an ambitious plan to develop property in the rural state of Haryana.
