Max Rudolf Frisch was a Swiss playwright and novelist of German-language literature after World War II and a good architect. Frisch was awarded the Neustadt International Prize for Literature in 1986. His use of irony is a significant feature of his post-war publications.
Background
Max Rudolf Frisch was born in 1911 in Zürich; the son of Franz Bruno Frisch (an architect) and Karolina Bettina Frisch (née Wildermuth). He was the second child in the family. He had a brother Franz and a stepsister Emma Elisabeth (from the first marriage of his father).
Education
During these years he started to write his first plays. He wanted to stage them but nothing came out of it. Also he made the acquaintance of Werner Coninx, with whom he had a long-lasting friendship.

Max Frisch sympathized with social democrats.
