Career
As managing director of World Bank Group, she oversees the World Bank's operations in Asia and Africa, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East. Indrawati's ongoing attention at the World Bank to middle-income countries such as Indonesia and the BRIC nations as a source of power and needed reform draws from her experiences as the Indonesian Minister of Finance from 2005 to 2010. She is responsible for the institution’s global operations as well as knowledge products in the thematic areas of human development, sustainable development, poverty reduction and economic management, and financial and private sector development. While minister, Indrawati cut Indonesia's debt in half and helped the reserves reach an all time high of $50 billion.
