      Despite having no college education, Bradley passed the exam and was licensed in 1865, joining his father's firm in Lancaster. He later received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Kentucky University (now Transylvania University).

    • Elected prosecuting attorney, Garrard County, Kentucky, 1870. Republican presidential elector, 1872. Candidate for Congress, 1872 and 1876.

      Nominee for United States senator, 5 times. Delegate-at-large Republican National convs., 1880, 1884, 1888, 1892, 1900, 04, 08. Made speech seconding nomination of Grant, 1880 and Theodore Roosevelt, 1904.

      Member Republican National Committee, 12 years. Candidate for government of Kentucky, 1887. Appointed Envoy Extraordinary anu Minister Plenipotentiary to Korea, 1889, but declined.

      Governor of Kentucky, 1895-1899 (1st Republican governor in state). United States senator, 1909-1915. Home: Louisville, Ky.
