Background
Dr. Ambesh was born and brought up in a small village of District Etah, in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. He is the eldest son of Mrs and Mr I.L. Ambesh. Coming from a humble background, Dr. Ambesh grew to an international stature by his hard work, dedication, and honesty. He has developed a number techniques, maneuvers, equipments and clinical approaches that have been published in various peer reviewed international journals and text books. His students are well placed in various medical institutes and hospitals, not only in India but in Europe, America and several other countries. He is greatly respected by his peers, students and patients.
Education
At the age of four, Sushil was enrolled in a primary school of a remote village (Dhanoli) from where he acquired his primary education. Later, he was shifted to a municipal high school (Ruyee ki mandi Shahganj, Agra)from where he obtained 8th standard qualification in 1971. As his father's financial resources were meagre he moved to his maternal grandfather's village of Etah district, where he stayed until 1975 and passed 12th Standard qualification with flying colors. In July 1975, he got enrolled to BSc degree course at Agra College Agra. In August 1977 he got selected to MBBS degree course at GSVM Medical College, Kanpur and became a medical graduate in 1983. In 1985 he was selected to his postgraduate degree course (MD) in Anaesthesiology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, India that he completed successfully in December 1987. Later, Dr. Ambesh worked as a senior resident for a period of three years at PGIMER Chandigarh. In 1991 Dr Ambesh was appointed on a faculty position as Assistant professor in Anaesthesiology at Sanjay Gandhi Post-gradaute Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow, India. Since then he has served on various faculty positions and is presently working as senior professor of Anaesthesiology, Intensive care and pain Medicine. Dr Ambesh has founded a department of Emergency Medicine in 2013 and is the founding chairman (Head) of the same.
