Felix Louis Calonder was a Swiss politician (Free Democratic Party of Switzerland) from the canton of Graubunden. When he worked in a Federal Council, he was the Federal Minister of the Interior and Minister of Foreign Affairs; he has held the office of president.
In 1891-1913 he was in Grison Grand Council, in 1896 and in 1899 he was the President.
In 1917 he held a post of the Vice President in Federal Council.
His presidential year was overshadowed by tensions between the German-speaking and the French-speaking Switzerland and the financial and economic needs of the population in the last year of the war.
His role during the general strike and his entry into the League of Nations brought him enmity with SP (Social Democratic Party of Switzerland) and supporters of absolute neutrality.
On 21 January 1920, he announced his resignation for health reasons without taking over in the Federal Department of Justice and Police. On 12 February 1920, the Federal Assembly took his resignation.
In 1937, he moved to Zurich and worked as a legal consultant.
