After graduating from the University of Barcelona he used to work as a lawyer, but he got interested in journalism and even published a magazine called “7”. He had been its editor-in-chief since 1975.
He went in for politics and became president of the Liberal Party of Andorra. He was elected as Prime Minister on December 21, 1994 after adopting the first constitution. Marc Forné initiated early elections and his party received most of the seats in the Parliament and he became Prime Minister again. He was elected again in 2001.
Despite the fact that the church is separated from the government in Andorra, Marc Forné considers faith to be of great importance in people’s lives.
When Molné came to power a new liberal economic program was started. This enabled Andorra to become one of the countries with highest standard of well-being in Europe.
The former head of the state was consecutive when it came to both home and foreign policy. He doesn't accept any kind of discrimination: ethnic, religious or sexual discrimination, as he believes it to be immoral. He has distinctly negative attitude to any military conflicts, that’s why he didn't initiate creation of armed forces in Andorra. He was a proponent of his county’s neutrality.
Marc Molné is an honest and outer-directed person, he is self-confident and self-reliant. And this enables him to hold his ground to the very end. He is keen on discussions trying all the time to win over his opponent to his side.
Marc Forné Molné speaks fluently Catalan, Spanish and French. He enjoys healthy life-style and tries to spend a lot of time in the open.
