Alexander Aitken

Alexander is a mathematician. He had a prodigious memory and calculating ability. He worked in Statistics, Numerical Analysis and Algebra and made important contributions in all these areas. He became President and later an honorary member of the EMS.

  • He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1925
  • He was elected to the Royal Society of Literature in 1964
