Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson, Royal Order of the Seraphim (Christina Louise Helena, born 3 August 1943) is a Swedish princess and the youngest sister of Carl XVI Gustaf, the current King of Sweden.
Background
She is the fourth child of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten, and Princess Sibylla of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha, and granddaughter of King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden.
In 1974 she married Tord Magnuson, and as a result of the unequal marriage, she lost her style of Royal Highness and received the courtesy title of Princess Christina, Mrs. Magnuson. Together they have three sons.
Princess Christina lives in Stockholm together with her husband who accompanies her on royal family engagements.
She is an active member of the Royal Family and performs official engagements on behalf of the Royal Family, attending events such as the Nobel Prize ceremonies, and receiving foreign heads of state.
Education
Princess Christina was the first Swedish princess to take final examination in school.
Among the five children of Prince Gustaf Adolf, Duke of Västerbotten Princess Christina is the only one who chose to get higher education.
Career
Mrs. Magnuson has dedicated herself to the Swedish Red Cross and the Movement for the past 30 years, starting out as a volunteer, promoting the Fundamental Principles at the district level.She was elected President of the Swedish Red Cross in 1993 and stayed in office until 2002. She also served two terms as a member of the Standing Commission of the Red Cross and Red Crescent which appointed her its special representative on the emblem.She travelled around the world advocating for a solution towards an additional emblem for the Movement, free of any religious, political or cultural connotation.
She is an active member of the Royal Family and performs official engagements on behalf of the Royal Family, attending events such as the Nobel Prize ceremonies, and receiving foreign heads of state. With her family, she was a guest at the 2010 Wedding of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and Daniel Westling.
She is Member of The Royal Order of the Seraphim.
