Loo Choon Yong obtained his medical training at the University of Singapore where he earned his MBBS and MCFP qualifications. He received post-graduate training in Cardiology at the National Heart, Brompton and London Chest Hospitals in the United Kingdom. Loo Choon Yong also holds a Diploma in Cardiac Medicine with Distinction from the Cardiothoracic Institute, University of London.
Loo Choon Yong is the Executive Chairman of Raffles Medical Group Limited. He co-founded the Raffles Medical Group in 1976 and was appointed to his current position in 1997 when the Group was listed in Singapore Stock Exchange.
Dr Loo was appointed by the President of Singapore as the Ambassador to the Italian Republic from March 2006. He was appointed by the Ministry of Trade and Industry as Chairman, Sentosa Development Corporation Ltd and Sentosa Golf Club on 1 March 2007.
