Hugh Townshend is an anomaly among economists because of its reputation, which was gained with help of only one brilliant article. Townshend's achievement was "driving liquidity preference theory to its logical conclusion", that means to the rejection of the idea of deterministic prices.Townshend has also written four book reviews for Economic Journal, which reveal the depth of his understanding of the problems and acute intelligence.
Background
The new formulation of Keynes, which was suggested by Townshend, required courage to go against the established schools of thought: either because of temperament or because of being subsistenced by outdated scientific concepts, most economists are determinists. Townshend's approach can rise only when taken in the natural sciences and the methodological changes will go to social sciences.
