Pinki Pramanik

Pinki Pramanik is an Indian track athlete who specialises in the 400 metres and 800 metres. Pramanik had success with the national 4×400 metres relay team, winning silver at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, gold at the 2006 Asian Games, and gold at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games. She won three gold medals at the 2006 South Asian Games, winning the 400 and 800 m events, as well as the relay.

So Pinki Pramanik parents are not residing with her and live in Purulia, West Bengal. She is unmarried and preveously lived with a female partner of 32 years old. Finally she was declared as a woman.

    Career

    • Pramanik made her mark at junior level when she set four junior state records in 2002. She made her world debut at the 2003 World Youth Championships in Athletics where she reached the 800 m semifinals.

      Pinki Pramanik came in limelight within very few days after winning gold medal in 4x400 meters relay race in 2006 in Doha Asian Games, she also won silver medal in Common wealth games in same year and was awarded with a job in prestigious institution Indian Railways and is posted in Eastern Railway, Kolkata. At the age of merely 17 years she won two medals in Asian Indoor Athletics Championships and later was chosen to represent Asia in IAAF World Cup.

    Major achievements

    • She took gold as part of the 4×400 metres relay team at the 2005 Asian Indoor Games. The 2006 Commonwealth Games brought her a silver medal. At Bangalore's Asian Grand Prix meeting in May that year she won the 800 m and improved her 400 m personal best, winning in 52.46 seconds. Greater success came in the relay: running with Sathi Geetha, Chitra Soman and Manjeet Kaur, the women's team took India's only athletics gold of Games.
