Andrew Palmer was born in Barrington is an affluent suburban village in Cook County and Lake County, Illinois, United States. After graduationg Barrington High School he mived to New-Hampshire and studied at Dartmouth College. At the present moment he is in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mr. Palmer has helped start, fund or found more than 25 innovative companies in technology, health care and the life sciences. Most recently, Andy founded Koa Lab, a start-up club in the heart of Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass.; and co-founded Data Tamer, with legendary database scientist and MIT professor Michael Stonebraker. Andy was named Angel of the Year in the New England Venture Capital Associationās 2013 NEVY Awards.
Previously, Andrew was co-founder and founding CEO of Vertica Systems (acquired by HP), a pioneering Big Data analytics company. Before that, he was a member of the core startup team and the SVP and CIO at Infinity Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: INFI). He has also held positions at innovative companies including Novartis, Bowstreet, pcOrder.com, and Trilogy.
Andy has served as a BOD member for early-stage companies including Upstart, Cloudant, CloudSwitch, and Recorded Future. He is also a seed investor/advisor for a number of other companies, including Affectiva, Apptegic, Avado, Bluefin Labs, CarePort, Clutch Retail, Docphin, GiveForward, Kinsa, Maxwell Health, Medio Systems, OpenBay, Podimetrics, Realta Entertainment, SharesPost, Syapse, Transform Health, and Yapstone.
Andrew has a particular interest in projects at the intersection of computer science and the life sciences, and a specific passion for cancer drug discovery and development.
