CHARLES PETER BERKEY

      He was executive secretary and president of the Geological Society of America. He was frequently consulted by mining and engineering concerns, and his publications include works on the geology of Mongolia, New York, Minnesota, Wisconsin, the Mississippi Valley, Puerto Rico, and the Gobi Desert.

    Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Member of New York Academy Sciences (past president), Rochester Academy Science, Geological Society China. American Institute Mining and Metallurgical Engineers, Municipal Engineers City of New York, American Society Civil Engineers (honorary), American Philosophical Society, National Academy Sciences, Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, Phi Gamma Delta.
