Served as Brigade Transport Officer 2nd Brigade Tirah Expeditionary Force 1897. As Brigade Transport Officer Khyber Force, 1898 (Indian Frontier medal with 2 clasps, despatches). Served in Kitchener’s Horse, South Africa, February-June 1900.
Intelligence Officer, Delagoa line, July-Sep. 1900; D. A.A.G.I. General Clement’s Column, September 1900 to February 1901. February-May 1901 D.A.A.G.I. to General Honourable Neville Lyttelton, and General Bruce Hamilton from May 1901 to June 1902.
